Some Destination Spas have a somewhat "snobbish" vibe to them - where you feel as if you need to dress up and look your best at all times, even doing aerobics! - but you won't find that vibe at The Oaks At Ojai. This is a wonderfully relaxed Destination Spa that, while certainly elegant in its simple decor, has such a comfortable aura to it that you'll instantly feel right at home and unwind.
Located just a mere 90 minutes from the Los Angeles airport, yet worlds away from the busy, stressful hustle and bustle of daily life, The Oaks At Ojai is perfect for anyone who wants a more serene experience from a spa vacation - it's really more of a spiritual retreat with a quieter pace and secluded environment.
Not that physical activities don't abound - they do! The Oaks at Ojai offers a wide variety of different fitness activities to choose from, all designed to help you meet your goals - whether that's weight loss, increasing your flexibility, toning, or just improving your overall fitness level. And with the beautiful sunny climate of southern California you can enjoy outdoor activities year-round.
The Spa at The Oaks at Ojai is an inviting sanctuary that offers a full complement of standard european-style spa treatments and packages, tendered by highly skilled professional therapists. A unique offering is their makeup services (an application, makeover, or lesson) that utilizes the Jane Iredale mineral cosmetics - a truly wonderful makeup product that is actually healthy for your skin!
A stay at The Oaks at Ojai includes three meals daily, plus snacks and beverages. The cuisine is extraordinarily healthy - low fat, low sodium, and low sugar - and yet is so delicious and satisfying (there's even dessert after dinner!) that you won't believe you're eating such a healthy diet. The varied menus feature natural foods, fresh fish and poultry, locally-grown fruits and vegetables, homemade salad dressings and soups - all without any additional salt or refined sugar used in the preparation. Many meals feature freshly-grown herbs from their special gardens.
It's important to note that The Oaks at Ojai does not serve any alcohol, so if you absolutely must have a glass of wine or cocktail with dinner you may find this frustrating. Also, the diet is "calorie restricted" (1000 calories per day) because it's intended to jump-start a weight-loss program (many of the clientele at The Oaks are focused on losing weight), and while you are welcome to second helpings, the portions are designed to be filling and satisfying even though they are low-calorie, so if weight loss isn't your intention then you might find the diet a problem.
Lastly - guys take note here - The Oaks at Ojai does seem to draw a nearly exclusively female guest ratio, with few enough males in attendance that a man might feel a bit out of place. Although The Oaks is ideally suited for a "girlfriends getaway" experience, they are certainly capable of skillfully accommodating males (and couples), so if you're a strong, confident guy, go for it!
